The IMAT, an association of agricultural technologists is registered under the rule 21 of Society Registration Act, 1860. The Institution pioneered by veteran agricultural professionals serves as a platform for bridging technology and policy gaps for sustainable growth of agriculture sector in the state. Institution has now grown in magnitude attracting the agriculture professionals from the state, country and abroad.

Mission

Develop awareness, catalase discussions and trigger actions for farmer centric growth of agriculture sector in the state by creating synergy among all stakeholders.

Objectives

To bring together all those persons interested in contribution to the agriculture development in the state.

Maharashtra is endowed with a rich pool of academicians, development officials, entrepreneurs, innovative farmers and a large force of students in the state agricultural universities. IMAT welcomes all those interested individuals to tackle challenges and resolve issues of agriculture sector through collective wisdom for the betterment of farming community.

To provide a forum for discussion, exchange of experiences, dissemination of technological knowhow and address policy gaps in agriculture sector.

IMAT organizes webinars, seminars, workshops and panel discussions inviting erudite experts in the state/ country on various topics in partnership with knowledge centers, industries and government for the benefit of stakeholders and address policy gaps.

To stimulates scientific and technological research on various aspects of agricultural development.

IMAT has a strong linkage with grass root level functionaries, pool of innovative farmers and rural agro- entrepreneurs contributing to the wealth of knowledge and experience. IMAT serves as a bridge between stake holders and knowledge centers facilitating identification of research needs/ policy gaps for advancement of the state agriculture sector.

To promote formal and informal education in agriculture sector.

IMAT with its pool of academic experts participate in shaping agriculture education policy from time to time to match future needs of agriculture and allied sectors in the state. IMAT participates in government initiatives on curricula upgradation, preparation of perspective plan of agriculture education and mapping human resource needs of future farming. New agriculture demands the new skilled human resource pool. IMAT assists in mapping new skill sets for different job roles and promotes skill education leading to short and long-term certificate courses under public and private sector umbrella.

To promote awareness on environment friendly farming systems, preservation of natural resources and prevention of their degradation/ pollution.

IMAT is conscious of conserving agro-eco system, reducing environmental pollution for the sustenance of agriculture systems and prevent degradation of natural resources. IMAT believes in a consortium approach involving all stake holders in creating awareness on restoration of soil, preservation of water quality and promoting ecofriendly agricultural practices.

To coordinate with government agencies, agricultural universities in formulating policies and programs of agriculture and allied sectors

IMAT draws its strength from its members coming from varied experience and areas of work in all agriculture subsectors. IMAT’s contribution was acknowledged by the Supreme Court committee on farm laws for its recommendations. IMAT proactively contributes its inputs to parliamentary committee on agriculture and various other government bodies whenever sought.

IMAT recognizes its Life Members, Associate Members and Student Members for their meritorious contribution, outstanding achievements and scholarly inputs in their respective field of operation in agriculture and allied sectors.
